Onurcan Çağatay started his music education in İleri Middle School in Mersin, later he pursued his undergraduate studies at Mersin University State Conservatory. In 2003, he continued his work with Erden Bilgen in Anadolu University Eskişehir State Conservatory until he graduated as an honour student from Erden Bilgen’s class in 2010. In 2011, he continued his studies in trumpet and music with Wolfgang Bauer at Stuttgart Musik Hochschule in Germany.

Çağatay’s education included various masterclasses around the world with trumpeters such as Allen Vizzutti, Gerassimos Ioannidis, John Hagstrom, Mathias Kamps, Rex Richardson, Graham Nicholson, Bert Langenkamp, Richard Stoelzel, Vince DiMartino, Zhonghui Dai, and Dan Patrylak.

Award-winning performer Çağatay won the Third Prize at the National Trumpet Competition International at Başkent University in 2005, and the Second Prize at Grand Valley State University International Trumpet Seminar Trumpet Competition. As a student he was awarded the young talents scholarship of “Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe” in 2009.

Çağatay serves as Associate Principal Trumpet at Bilkent Symphony Orchestra in Ankara.
Previously he also performed solo and orchestral works in various positions such as İstanbul State Opera and Ballet, Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic, İstanbul State Symphony, ENKA Chamber Orchestra, Mersin Opera ve Ballet, Mersin University Academic Chamber Orchestra, Antalya State Symphony, Turkey International Youth Philharmonic, Eskişehir Municipality Symphony Orchestra, Bursa Regional State Symphony, Philharmonia Istanbul, Stuttgart Musik Hochschule Orchestra, İstanbul Cinema Symphony, Adana State Symphony, Anatolian University Symphony, Hacettepe University Academic. He is an active chamber musician and founding member of Turkish brass ensemble called Brassolist since 2015.

In 2010, he was chosen by the Culture Ministry to represent Turkey with Turkish Trumpet Quartet in the International Trumpet Guild in Sydney, Australia. At this event, he performed Andre Jolivet’s Concertino. In 2012, his performance of Igor Stravinsky Soldier's Tale at Youth Euro Classic Festival with Ensemble Turquoise got positive reviews. His international solo career includes Turkey-Syria Friendship concerts where he has performed as a soloist broadcasted by national media channels of both nations. Also at the brass festival titles “Exploring the Trumpet in Greece” improved Greek-Turkish friendship with Turkish Trumpet Quartet performances. Çağatay has been successfully an active international performer in the concerts he performed in Albania, Hungary, Check Republic, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Austria, the USA, and Israel.
